Vishnu Krishna Shaligram is worshipped as the eighth incarnation or avatar of the Lord Vishnu (Hindu god) and also as a supreme god. Lord Krishna is the god of compassion, love and tenderness in Hinduism. Krishna is also known by various other names i.e. Mohan, Govinda, Gopal, Radhe, Makhanchor, Jagannatha, Dwarkadheesh, Murari, Murliwala and much more.

When Lord Krishna was in His Bal Swaroop (child form), He was once accused by His friends of eating mud. Mother Yashoda asked Him to open His mouth. As soon as Krishna opened it, she did not see mud—instead, she beheld the entire universe (Brahmanda): countless planets, stars, mountains, rivers, all living beings, and even herself looking into Krishna's mouth. This miraculous vision revealed that the little child Krishna was none other than the Supreme Lord, who contains the entire creation within Himself.
