In this posture Lord Ganesha is depicted with his four hands. The upper right hand has a 'parshi' . The lower right hand is raised with palm facing outwards away from the body with fingers flexed. This hand gesture is called 'Abhayamudra' that offers protection for all from all evils. The upper left hand is shown holding a flower. The lower left hand holds a special sweet called 'Modak or Laddoo'. It is believed that it is the favorite sweet of Lord Ganesha
