Ready to apply rose paste made from red roses and water. This fragrant paste can be applied on deities. It is also distributed to devotees, who apply it to the forehead. When applied on the forehead, it gives a soothing effect.
The paste is prepared by grinding rose petals by hand upon granite slabs (popularly known as Saane kallu in Kannada and Ammi kallu in Malayalam) shaped for the purpose. With slow addition of water a thick paste results.
