Tirthankara is also known as Arihant or Jinnah.Mahavira was born in 599 BC. As a prince in Bihar, India. At the age of 30, he left his family and the royal family, gave up his worldly possessions, including clothes and became a monk. He spent the next twelve years in deep silence and meditation to conquer his desires and feelings. He went without food for a long time. He carefully avoided harming or disturbing other living creatures, including animals, birds and plants. Their methods of meditation, days of penance, and manner of behavior represent a beautiful example for monks and nuns in religious life. His spiritual search lasted for twelve years. In the end he realized right perception, knowledge, power and bliss. This realization is known as knowledge-only.
