The Wedding Coconut (Nariyal) is also offered on occasions like weddings, festivals, the use of a new vehicle, bridge, house etc.  The coconut is broken and placed before the Lord. Since then the coconut has become a symbol of sacrifice. Therefore in any auspicious venture or ritual, a person offers a coconut to a deity with the sentiment, ‘I offer myself at your feet’.

In Hindu scripture, marriage is a sacrament with strong moral and ethical values. It is meant to unite the bride and the groom firmly so that they essentially become one in soul and spirit.
