Over the centuries, the Shankh was adopted as one of the divine symbols of Hinduism. Brahma Vaivarta Purana recalls the creation of conchs: Lord Shiva flung a trident towards the demons, burning them instantaneously.Their ashes flew in the sea creating conchs.
