Narasimha is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Narasimha or the Lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu is half-lion and half-man. Vishnu killed the demon Hiranyakashyap, brother of Hiranyaksha, who had gained the boon of immortality from attacks by man, beast or God. Hiranyakashipu had special powers due to which he could not, during the day or night, indoors or out, anywhere in the world, neither in the sky nor on the ground nor in heaven nor in the Patala, any Deities, demons or animals can be killed by weapons, and by humans. Endowed with new powers, Hiranyakashipu created chaos, persecuting his own son and all the devotees of Vishnu. Vishnu realizes the power of the demon, then creatively comes into a mixed avatar that is neither human nor animal nor at the junction of day and night, neither inside nor outside kill the demon. Narasimha is mainly known as the Great Guard, who specifically protects his devotees from evil. The most popular is the Narasimha legend that protects his devout Prahlad and creatively destroys Prahlads demonic father and Hiranyakashipu.
