Nazar Raksha Mask Kavach Keerti Mukha for Entrance Door Hanging
SKU: VV826
Kirtimukha, meaning "Face of Glory," is a fierce and grotesque figure commonly found in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temple architecture, often placed above doorways and
arches as a guardian symbol. Its origin comes from the Shiva Purana, where Lord Shiva, in his wrath, created a terrifying being to consume the arrogant messenger Rahu. When Rahu pleaded for mercy, Shiva commanded the being to devour itself, leaving only its face, which became Kirtimukha. Pleased with its obedience, Shiva decreed that it should adorn temples and be revered before deities. Symbolizing the destruction of ego, Kirtimukha serves as a reminder to surrender arrogance before approaching the divine. It also acts as a protective force, warding off evil and representing time’s all-consuming nature.
