Lord Ganesha is the form of Omkara. Om is considered as the pranava. In Om, the upper arc is said to be the head or the face of Gajanana. The lower arc is his belly.The twisted arc,which is on the right side of Om is the trunk. Thus Omkara represents the complete physical form of Lord Ganesha.
