Ganesha is also known as Vighnesha or Vighnaraja, meaning lord of the obstacles. As the son of Shiva, Ganesha partakes some aspects of Lord Shiva as the destroyer. He destroys the impurities in us and removes obstacles from our paths so that we may achieve the four aims of human life and experience peace and happiness.

Importance of Idol worship: Idols are not the idle fancies of sculptors, but shining channels through which the heart of the devotee is attracted to and flows towards God.
