Goddess Chandraghanta is considered as the third avatar of Goddess Durga who is worshipped by the devotees on the third day of Navratri. She brings tranquility, prosperity and peace in the life when worshipped. The name of the third divine form of the Mother Goddess is Mother Chandraghanta.The third day of Navratri celebrations is dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta. On the forehead of Goddess Chandraganta is a Jewel Studded Crown on which the shape of Crescent Moon .The Half moon on her forehead looks like a Bell Ghanta and so the Mata is Known as Chandra ganta.Devi Maa Chandraganta has ten arms.

Goddess Chandraghanta mounts on the tigress. She is depicted with ten hands, carries Trishul, Gada, Sword and Kamandal in her four left hands, carries lotus flower, Arrow, Dhanush and Japa Mala in her four right hands and keeps the fifth right hand in Abhaya Mudra. A crescent-shaped bell adorning her crown, and hence the name, Chandraghanta. She has a third-eye on her forehead that she opens only during the time of war. The Goddess protects her devotees from evil, and hence, she is seen equipped with a variety of weapons. The Goddess governs Shukra, one of the Navagrahas in Hinduism, and hence devotees worship her and seek her blessings for shielding them from evil.The form of the Shakti is ready for war with all her weapons. It is believed that the sound of the moon-bell on her forehead lay off all type of bad spirits away from her devotees.
