The Markandeya Puran, defines Ambe Maa as another manifestation of Maa Durga who has been bestowed with different shakti power from all Devtas and combining to become one. Ambe Maa sitting on a lion is a Manifestation of 'Shakti'. The power to breathe, walk, digest etc, comes from Ambe Maa. Therefore is also known as Maha Shakti. Ambe Maa is worshipped in many forms with each having its own significance.
